Edward James Olmos joins cast of Rick Schwartz produced Machete KillsCasting rumors have been rampant regarding the Rick Schwartz produced and Robert Rodriguez directed Machete Kills, sequel to the cult classic Machete.  The Portugese site Omelette reports today that Edward James Olmos is joining the cast, which already includes Mel Gibson, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Demian Bichir and Danny Trejo.

Early Poster Art for Machete Kills, produced by Rick Schwartz, was released just prior to the Cannes film festival.  

Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, and of course Danny Trejo all star in Robert Rodriguez’s sequel which will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Machete Kills finds the titular ex-federale (Danny Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer. Mel Gibson is set to co-star as Luther Voz, a cunning arms dealer and death merchant who aims to spread war across the planet by launching a missile.

Extras needed for ‘Machete Kills’ in Austin, TX

Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills, Produced by Rick SchwartzLast Saturday Beth Sepko Casting held an Open Casting looking for extras to appear in the follow up to Robert Rodriguez’ Machete.  Machete Kills, produced by Rick Schwartz, will be filmed at Austin Studios in Austin, TX this summer. The movie’s all-star cast includes Amber Heard, Mel Gibson, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, and Sofía Vergara.

If you missed the casting call, it’s not too late to apply. According to Beth Sepko Casting’s Facebook page, “if you were not able to make it to the open call, you can email thirdcoastextras@gmail.com with your height, weight, contact number, resume (if available), and photos.
