Rick Schwartz produced and Robert Rodriguez directed Machete Kills stars Mel Gibson as Luther Voz, an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete (Danny Trejo) takes on Voz and his army in order to dismantle his master plan for global anarchy. In a recent interview with Extra, Gibson revealed more about the character:
“He’s an evil genius, he’s kind of like a Bond villain in the gutter,” says Gibson. “Bad guys are always more fun, and if you can find the bad in a good guy, it’s always more fun.”
The character is also a gourmet chef, and Mel said he’s a pretty good cook himself. “My speciality? I make the best hamburger in the United States.”
Rodriquez, known for his unique casting choices, specifically wrote the villain role for Gibson. “Mel was the only one I was interested in,” said the auteur.
Along with Gibson and Trejo, Machete Kills stars Charlie Sheen as the President of the United States and Sofia Vergara as a dominatrix. It hits theaters in 2013.
